central location.clean. good breakfast. good restaurant and bar on site.historic building. good value for money. free parking. helpful staff

uncomfortable bed. broken mirror in bathroom. extractor fan not working. double glazing broken. parking not adjacent to hotel. noisy. no radio or satellite TV

Overall: fantastic old historical building. Clean and freshly decorated but lacking in facilities. Great central location but rather noisy. Annoying walk to public car park with luggage in the rain but free parking.Bed on a slope and rather hard mattress. Helpful staff overall and pleasant enough stay.  (108306973)

Nice breakfast - efficient breakfast waiter. Nice bedroom.

No toilet roll. had to ask. Came back in the evening and still no toilet roll so we had to look for one in cupboards. Toilet flusher not workinig properly - Had to take the back off a few times. No telephone number to contact until after booking completed. Needed to speak to someone which we couldnt. Free car park nearby was not clear in instructions ie where to park and that you will get voucher stamped etc.

Overall: We enjoyed it apart from the above obvious descrepancies.  (108105306)

Quaint, good atmosphere. Good location in city centre

In need of some renovation Nightmare to get to and find any parking nearby due to pedestrianised areas

Overall: Enjoyed it as an overnight stop en route from Cornwall  (108628843)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
