Spacious accommodation

Overall: This is a typical conference hotel, in the middle of a small village near to Mulhouse. The accommodation we were in was perfect for us as a family of 4 - a bedroom with a double bed, a lounge with 2 single beds and a kitchen area and a large bathroom. It was all very clean and spacious. The restaurant in the hotel is typically French, which caused us some consternation at first, as our children are relatively fussy, and not too keen on traditional French fare, and there was nowhere else for us to eat in the local area in the evening. However, when we asked, the maitre'd happily offered us burger & chips / sausage & chips. The standard of the food wasn't brilliant, and it wasn't cheap, but it was no worse, and no more expensive than I would expect to pay in a similar chain hotel in the UK. Service in the restaurant, and in the bar after dinner was not great (eg we wanted to order dessert, but after waiting about 20 minutes we gave up on the idea), but this was mainly due to understaffing, and not to the actual staff themselves, who were doing their best in the circumstances. We didn't have breakfast, as we were sure it wouldn't be worth the 10E each they wanted to charge us. However, they had added it onto the bill when we were checking out, but quickly removed it when I pointed out we hadn't actually eaten breakfast.  (99431357)

Other than the incident with the bed it is an excellent hotel I will stay there again butwill check the bed before I actually go near it !

The management should check their equiptment for safety and not allow the cleaning staff to try and conceal faults in the equiptment particularily the beds IF THIS IS TAKEN CARE OF I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL OTHERWISE I WOULD TELL ANY PROSPECTIVE GUEST TO CHECK FOR THEMSELVES

Overall: The hotel was excellent,I was impressed as soon as I walked in having driven about 500 miles with only 2 breaks for coffee(I was tired )my room 9 was a normal twin bedded room.I intended to sleep for about two to three hours ,as I sat on the bed it collapsed and I hurt my Back and my left Knee . The slats that made up the bed were'nt in place although the bed was made up ,I was so tired I checked the other bed which was OK . I told the receptionist at about 7;30 pm that evening and she made a note of my complaint ,she told me that the manager was not available I said I would speak to someone in the morning at checkout As you know I was given a good rate by your company and I took the bed slats to reception and asked to see the manager ,apparently he was on Holiday .I asked to be compensated for my trouble and received a rate of 70 euros plus dinner etc a total of 108 euros which to be frank was not enough to compensate me for the aches and sprains etc.and I will be sending a report to Best Western to that effect The bed was faulty and in my opinion this would not have been the first time that this has happened to their guests and to be honest with the nonchalent way I was treated it wont be the last !!  (2540637)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
