Reception & Night Porter/bar Staff all very friendly & provided good service.

All areas not clean, poor decoration. Breakfast expensive compared to local pub

Overall: Good location, but disappointed with cleanliness of hotel. I guess you get what you pay for!  (107570583)

Reasonably central, friendly staff.

Room not overly clean-bearable but not of a standard I would have wanted to share with anyone. Shower was not great-leaking flexible pipe meant a lot of force was lost; bathroom felt as if it hadn't been given a proper clean for perhaps a year (by the buildup of dust in corners and in the shelving unit). Was left with the feeling this was one of those rooms they kept for single travellers and ddin't get used much.

Overall: Whilst trying to find anywhere to stay in festival time in Edinburgh is a pain at short notice, this hotel could have worked a bit harder at making itself value for money. Staff were friendly and it is central but in my room at least cleanliness and general condition were poor. As to stay again, I selected 'no' as there wasn't a 'perhaps' option-for an emergency visit, it's ok and bearable for 1 or 2 nights (hopefully more reasonably priced outside festival time) when travelling alone; but not somewhere for a longer stay or if in company  (108856246)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
