Staff were all friendly and helpful, with a smile. The room was lovely and inviting, the breakfast more than adequate.

The shower was a little hard to work, a bit old and loose (room 120)

Overall: We were pleased enough to stay there again when necessary, as first choice in the area.  (108392066)

could not have been happier with the service we received at the hotel. it was an absolute pleasure staying at the Old Palace Lodge

the only thing that i would think of as bad was that we were unable to order room service on the saturday evening as the phone line was constantly engaged for about an hour. we ended up having to go out for dinner

Overall: when i booked in it was for the birthday of my partner who actually lives in dunstable. he was delighted when i told him we were staying there and as he uses the hotel for business on a regular basis, knew about the hotel. i would not hesitate to stay here again and use the facilities  (108840570)

Very friendly, spacious room, good service.

Room was very warm - and no air conditioning.

Overall: Easy to find, friendly and helpful. A very good base for visiting different areas.  (107319278)

The Old Palace Lodge in Dunstable was in a good location for our visit to Bletchley Park. It also was about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Heathrow and thus would have been a good last night before an afternoon flight. The hotel was old and charming, but with modern conveniences. The room was fine with a clean bathroom (great shower!)and nice big TV. It was easy (and free) to access the Internet and we could do this without turning off any security features on our laptop. Our evening meal was delicious and the drinks good. Although the hotel is situated on a suburban street with stores (some out of business) and other seedy-ish buildings, there was also a cute thatched roof pub and interesting old church nearby. It was also a short walk to a chemist's and grocery.

The neighborhood was not all that attractive but that was not a big deal!

Overall: We would absolutely stay again! We would even ask for the same room - what we did not tell the staff was that since our ground-floor room overlooked the car park we simply opened a window and then I handed in the small baggage to my husband!!!  (107907654)

Good clean well presented rooms the last time I stayed at this Hotel there was a problem with the hot water supply this time all was well.

I had a "blue " steak at the Hotel Resturant, the steak was tender and vegtables good but the steak was cold, I did complain but all I got was "I will tell the chef".

Overall: I would stay and no doubt will stay at this Hotel again but I have my doubts if I will eat there again  (107781457)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
