The quality of the food was excellent, the overall service was very good and the hotel was very clean. WiFi access was also easy and very helpful.

Only really one bad point, my kettle didn't work so i asked the lady on the desk around 8pm. She told me she would send someone up as soon as possible. They never ever came.

Overall: Fantastic setting and overall quality and cleanliness was very good. The best part to me was the food, both the choice and the taste. And the value. Highly reccomended.  (108622566)

good locality to Forth Bridge

Our room was adequate; however we were staying with family whose family room was poor

Overall: cancelled one night's stay as travelling with family whose room was poor so cut the stay short  (107911209)

The receptionis Kay was super, very helpful & smiling. We did request to change rooms as the first room was over looking a mess, it was no problem to change rooms & we got a better view.

The rooms were very basic, very travel lodge. The bed was lumpy & the look of the room at first glance was not impressive.

Overall: It was ok.  (108476251)

good location and friendly, helpful receptionist

Poor management of restaurant. A table booked hours before was not "ready" 20 minutes after the reserved time, even though the restaurant was only under 50% occupied. Food is poorly cooked (three visits confirm this), and restaurant staff are poorly managed or inexperienced.

Overall: Nice hotel at which I have now stayed three times, but on every occasion there have been similar problems with the restaurant, poor quality of cooking and inattentive staff. Only because of this we will not be returning.  (108784837)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
