Beautiful building to stay in and the staff were very professional yet friendly the same time, I stayed there with a 1 year old and they went out of the way to be helpful as there is no lift, could not fault anything for athe 2 nights stay as well as the wedding we attended

en suite room in a converted stables overlooking a quiet courtyard, close enough to the town centre facilities yet far enough away to be rural. The restaurant menu was brief but the food was of an excellent quality, served in a timely fashion and was at a very reasonably price considering the quality.

wine list was a bit pricey for what was on offer.

Overall: Lovely country hotel, surprisingly quiet considering its closeness to the town centre and very good value for 60 pounds a night in the middle of summer when booking at 3 days notice.  (108425400)

Great location with an interesting history and layout. Very helpful bar manager.

The complimentary bowl of fruit and mineral water that was to be in our room to greet us never arrived but to be fair to reception I didn't mention that point until check out. Guest use of the hotel is very restricted when a wedding function is catered for.

Overall: Enjoyable  (107636143)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
