Traditional hotel in town. Staff v friendly. Warm and cosy. Good bar.

Absolutely nothing.

Overall: Traditional hotels like this are a true picture of Ireland - don't change it.  (99636733)

The hotel had character

A bit jaded, ready for a refurbishment.

Overall: The hotel is quite an old building, set in the centre of the town. The lobby, lounge and bar areas have panelled walls and ceilings and have some character about them. The accommodation is in line with what you would expect with an older building which has been converted to en suite over a period. The bedroom was quite small but clean and the bathroom facilities were spotless. We didn't dine in the hotel as we were out and about but there was a carvery available in the evenings. We were room only and breakfast was extra at 10 euro which was popular with non residents as well as residents. In general, a fairly comfortable place to stay for a few days and use as a base for travelling around the mid-west of the country.  (3304864756)

Overall: The room was very shabby and small, I did not feel I wanted to have a shower as all looked very mucky. When checking out it rook 3 reception staff to deal with one customer and at no time did they acknowledge we were waiting. I would not return to this hotel.  (3304528209)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
