Overall: The hotel was beautifully clean, spacious, welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast was a feast! There were wonderful views from the front. Cortona itself is a wonderful town- old, picturesque, well cared for and with stunning views. (97993952)
Friendly staff, amazing view from hotel room
Overall: We would highly recommend the Villa Marsili. The staff and accommodation were of the very highest standards. The hotel itself is situated around a 5 minutes walk from the centre of Cortona, however this is up a very steep hill. There are escalators available but these were not operational after 8pm, so the hotel is not situated in a suitable position for the less mobile. The staff at the hotel provide aperitifs between 7pm and 8pm, which makes for an excellent start before setting off for an evening meal. One general comment that I would make is that it is very hard to get a taxi in Cortona. We had to wait for nearly two hours at the station when we arrived and when we left the hotel could not find an available taxi so very kindly drove us to the station themselves. One place to recommend if you like shopping is the Prada outlet at Montevarchi. My partner bought a Prada suit for only (3305388035)
Hotel villa Marsili is effortlessly beautiful and our room with the bathroom and jacuzzi was very pretty with stylish furniture and wanderful views of Tuscan countryside and lake Trasimeno.
Almost nothing. Only small detail - the glass shower screen leaked water on the floor.
Overall: We had an excellent week in this lovely and elegant hotel where we always came back with pleasure after a hard day of sighseeing and visiting the many interesting places around. Staff were most kind and helpful, breakfast choice very good and we would recommend Villa Marsili to anybody who is tired of cannot do attitudes at hotels such as Fontebella (particularly dreadful staff - longer story) in Assisi or My Hotels near the airport in Pisa where they cannot be bothered to prepare a takeaway breakfast for the next day when you leave too early to have your already paid for breakfast. What is the rule on that anyway? It is not the first time we were refused a packed breakfast though there should have been no problem. (99330788)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
