Coffee at breakfast was very very weak Bar prices expensive and 12% service charge added on is unwelcome to say the least

Overall: Decent hotel, nice rooms - 12% service charges are simply greed and a way of employers paying low pay and getting away with it  (108914160)

The most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in

Room decor a bit spartan - only one armchair

Overall: Excellent location, very froendly and helpful staff, excellent restaurant  (108322659)

It was a pleasant, spacious room.

There were no bad points.

Overall: I would certainly stay in the hotel again if I were to be in or passing through Manchester  (108221706)

4.7 / 5 4.7 / 5 HILARY [Warwick, GB] on 15/09/2009 (Mature couple)

We were upgraded on arrival - room was fantastic and check-in staff were extremely helpful.

We had full English breakfast included in the rate and am so glad we did not pay the full £13.50 each - the service in the restaurant was dreadful, and what passed for a full English was mostly cold. My partner's order was also incorrectly taken.

Overall: Would happily stay again as the location and the hotel itself were great, but would probably book on a room-only basis.  (108818150)

Decor and environment lovely. Some staff very helpful (e.g. on arrival when were told of power cut). Most staff very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast waitress took a while to notice we were there. Barely greeted us before she pointed, wordlessly, to a table. Continued to look sullen throughout. Thank goodness the others were helpful.

Overall: Refreshing to stay in an older place. Nice architecture , high ceilings etc.  (108598877)

The softest most comfy bed in the world!

Could hear a few doors getting slammed.

Overall: Really enjoyed my stay, would definately recommend it to my friends.  (108223629)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
