clean and comfortable
would have liked tea&coffee making facilities in the bedroom
Overall: Owners were very helpful and friendly. Pleasant environment to stay in and well located for the ski lifts. Would be happy to return next year and also to recommend to others. (99362036)
Loved the site, the hotel was clean and attractively maintained, the staff were pleasant and acommodating, the views to Mont Blanc wonderful and the church bells were a pleasing alarm call each morning!
Didn't feel inclined to use the small hotel bar which was used by the proprietors for watching TV on a rather dominating TV screen.
Overall: Les Houches and the hotel were easy to find and well-situated. We only ate breakfast in the hotel - which was pleasant although unsurprising. A few good bars and restaurants in the village - although we were less impressed by the Restaurant de l'Antan (on the corner near the telepherique), where the service was bordering on rude. Recommend the Creposaure though, where the proprietor let us have a taster of local cheeses and meats, and the Christiania opposite the cable car station which was open all day to provide snacks and hot drinks for weary and wet hillwalkers! Le Delice, next to the hotel, is run by an English couple and served excllent cuisine, and the bar/bistrot a few doors along in the other direction was a real favourite, frequented by locals but very welcoming and pleasant, with good food. The swimming pool at the hotel was available and heated - and although small, provided a bit of a diversion for our two daughters after a tiring day exploring. The car park was small but we did manage to find a space each day. The hotel provided plenty of information about activities and places to visit in the surrounding area. We used Les Houches as a base for exploring the region in general and the hotel was ideal for that purpose. The Bellevue cable car was within walking distance and provided access to a number of rambling and mountain biking routes (and obv skiing in season). We were impressed to see the World Cup Downhill Skiing 2007 is to be part-hosted in Les Houches in January. (3304797895)
Clean and attractive hotel. Excellent food.
Owners' attitude.
Overall: Although the hotel was very pleasant, the waiters etc. very attentive, and the food excellent, we felt very unwelcome because of the attitude of the proprieters (younger madame dismissive when we arrived and the older madame rude on occasions). We were referred to by latter as les Anglais even though we aren't! (3304099244)
Tasteful decor overall, but especially the lovely breakfast and dining rooms. The hotel has an excellent restaurant as well! Our dinner at the hotel was one of the best we had during a sixteen-day trip to France.
Nothing.
Overall: The hotel is lovely and is situated minutes from the Chamonix-Mt Blanc area. The owners are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is comfortable and homey, with a touch of elegance as well. We missed the explosion of flowers on the balconies and in the garden; it was still too cold for planting. But even without the flowers, the view from our balcony was beautiful. (3304379506)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
