Staff excellent, friendly and welcomming. Hotel full of character.

None but better to stay in main hotel rather than the annexe

Overall: Good value for money, ideal location  (108426144)

A good meal in the evening, well cooked with a good wine but at the top end of pub dining and not quite in the class of rivals such as the Victoria Inn at Cattal on a price for price basis. .

Table for breakfast was sticky with spilt sugar. The room was cold on arrival and we had to ask for the heating to be turned up. The shower and surrounding tiles were worn and grubby. No hand pulled local ale at the bar.

Overall: A reasonable value hotel at £35pppn. The catering and dining was good, except for the state of the tables in the breakfast room. I would recommend the use of a table cloth and table linen on unevenly surfaced wood tables. Once again, I compare UK hotels with a 2 star logis de France and am disappointed. It is the lack of quality in all aspects of your stay that UK hotels seem to find hard to manage. Stay at Chez Camille in Beaune and see how it can be done...  (108211774)

Dinner was good quality and plentiful and evening meal well served. Breakfast was cooked to order and fresh though it was very busy and fairly slow service Location and grounds are very pleasant and staff are friendly

The room was far too hot, there was a lack of adequate ventilation. It was a known problem and we were told we should not have been allocated this room (no 8)as it is not normally let. The room is due to be refurbished The bathroom was old with cracked and mouldy tiles. The tv didn't work. The springs had gone on the mattress. The bed squeaked at every turn.

Overall: A disappointment - we were offered a small discount and an apology by the general manager.  (108617558)

Friendly staff. Pleasant location. Good food.Recently refurbished bathroom. Plenty of room in the bedroom. Our twin room actually had TWO comfortable chairs (as well as a desk chair) -- many of the hotels we have stayed in provide only one comfortable chair in addition to the desk chair. No stag/hen parties!

Decor a little "tired" in places (e.g. bedroom and breakfast room). But easily outdone by the plus points. A little short staffed at times (e.g. on one evening there was a single staff member covering reception, bar and waiting-on in the dining room!

Overall: An enjoyable stay and would stay there again if in the area.  (107878063)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
