We stayed overnight at Le Saint Laurent because we needed to break a drive from the Nice area to Toulouse. We picked this hotel because it was bookable on the web, and we thought it would be fun to stay in or near Lirac and Tavel, whose wines we often enjoy at home. The hotel is in a beautiful stark old building, but stuffed to the gills with kitsch furnishings and decor. If you're in the mood to be amused by this sort of thing (we were) you might well enjoy yourself here. The buffet breakfast was absolutely superb, especially the bread and patisserie.

Well, given how much decorative clutter there was in the room, it must have been easy for the staff to overlook the provision of a basic cake of soap to wash our hands with :-) I'm sure the attentive young man who was in charge would have been only too glad to find us one, but it seemed simpler to use the lemon-verbena shower gel.

Our suite was restful,comfortable and exceptionally beautiful. I was attracted by the phrase a profound sense of aesthetisism which I had read about the hotel and certainly found to be true.

Overall: Staying at St Laurent des Arbres was extremely restful. I enjoyed walks around the ancient village and visiting the statue of St. Laurent then coming back to an extremely lovely hotel with chaleureuse ambience and creative, excellent cuisine.  (97589827)

Fantasttic managers- friendly, knowledgable and accomodating. Great location. Charming atmosphere; each room uniquely (and very tastefully) decorated. There is an upstairs, open-air sitting room, a steam room and outdoor jacuzzi.

Overall: Our stay here was fantastic. I will continue to reccommend this hotel to wine-lovers (10km from chateauneuf du pape, less than that to Tavel) like ourselves, or anyone else looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway. Very close to Avignon as well. ****  (99551494)
