We have stayed here before. The hotel has remained consistent with my comments below, as have the staff: Room was a little 70's Decor but in good repair and certainly better than the cheap chains. Restaurant food is always very good and reasonably priced.

One sheet was stained. We had to assume it was clean as it was by this time 1am. Attitude of the staff especially the restaurant staff sucked. Rude and grumpy as usual.... need I say more!!!!

Overall: We would return if only for the restaurant and its half way position from our home in the South. Room was adequate too. Just the staff are a problem.  (107240570)

Very convenient from the motorway exit. Restaurant very good.

The bedroom was at the end of a dark corridor, not made much better went lit. The room was next to the emergency/fire exit which stated that the door was "alarmed" if opened. The door was wide open !!

Overall: The hotel is easily found and close to the motorway exit, good basic room plus has a supermarket filling station a minute or two from the hotel. Good retaurant but could/can be expensive. Walk to the town centre isn't attractive or too close - 15/20minutes  (107284843)

Good food, secure parking, quiet, good value

Tennis court unuseable, pool table worn

Overall: This is a comfortable hotel, nice rooms, although compact. We stayed for a couple of days and enjoyed our time. Restaurant of a better standard than I expected, great food and wine, but not as cheap as the accomodation! Swimming pool near bar and well sheltered from nearby road. Lots of nationalities staying there. Hotel is part of Balladins chain, big sign on roof of hotel, helpful for directions! Underground carpark if required.  (99680099)

The price is good and the hotel is clean and staff friendly.

Rooms are small and some in need of redecoration. The restaraunt is expensive but the food was good although very slow service.

Overall: One of the reasons we booked the hotel was to use the pool but we didn't have the time. As we arrived reasonably late we ate in the hotel the first night and although the food was excellent you didn't get large amounts and it was expensive especially the wine and alcohol. The service was very slow. I would recomend eating in the village which has some good bar type foods and is a 15 minute walk.  (3305012073)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
