Clean, spacious
Rear of hotel, dark, looking on to a walled-in roof area. We had requested a room to front of hotel. Disappointed.

location
It did not live up to the description on the site, It was a bit dated, shabby (not dirty), hot, small and not what we were expecting. We did not want to spend time in the small rooms.
Overall: We checked out after a few hours as we felt we could not spend the evening there with our children. We had to pay full price and then pay again to check into a more suitable hotel - this was fair enough as it was 4.30pm when we checked out - later than the usual cancellation period - we did not use the rooms for anything. There was no where to go in the evening with children (inside the hotel) it was so small. The rooms were small and not particularly fresh/luxurious. Although the hotel was not expensive the site made it look better (airy and relaxing). The parking was annoying as we were told to park over the road and keep returning every few hours to put money in the kiosk. This is fine for a cheap room for the night but did not suit us. It also felt hot inside. (99793400)
small and friendly hotel
Overall: the owners spoke English and were very helpful (3305131368)
Centrally situated, near enough to most amenities. Room at rear was quiet, generous bathroom, towels changed daily.
Shabby decor in places, wardrobe space was no more than adequate. No lift. Only lounge area was a couple of cane chairs in the window of the dining room.
Overall: We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel, near the town's main facilities. The station is however a mile away, down a steep hill, - a disadvantage! That said, we got what we asked for; staff were quite helpful, and had enough information to hand. The Boulevard des Pyrenees with its splendid view was 5 mins away, as was a lovely parkland area. A 1km walk (12-15 mins)took you to the castle area, where the Office de Tourisme and many of the pleasanter restaurants were situated. There is enough to do in Pau for about 4 days if you include the art gallery, a church or two and the Bernadotte Museum; not fantastic, but unusual and certainly worth the bother of finding it - it's not in the Rue Bernadotte as one might expect, but in the street parallel! In particular, the efficient and friendly proprietor.
Nothing of any importance; perhaps a little more natural light in the room.
Overall: A totally satisfactory venue for a short stay at a budget cost. (3304513930)
good sized room
Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room
Overall: Good accommodation, very friendly and overly helpful reception staff. (3304371592)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
