A beautiful house with historic connections. The setting is magnificent. It has been redecorated throughout (with unsuitable colours in our opinion).
It was admittedly low season and there were few guests, but the place did seem to lack soul. It could have been so much better.
Overall: Adequate only for an overnight stay. (107585248)
A delightful French Chateau in the Normandy countryside; most attractive grounds and views. The staff were efficient and considerate. The interior decor was most appropriate to a chateau and one had the impression of stepping back in time.
The bathroom was rather cramped and the shower lacked any kind of cubicle so that water inevitably went onto the floor.
Overall: For an overnight stay, the hotel is fine, albeit a trifle expensive. However, both my wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed the experience. (107161457)
The setting of this hotel could not have been more romantic. From the greenhouse and pond to the geese and cows grazing in the pasture this chateau screamed romance. It is unfortunate that my wife was not with me. I was also able to watch some english language news in the evenings so I didn't lose touch of home.
The rooms were fairly plain. There were no refrigerators or irons in the room. I asked reception if there was an iron anywhere on the facility and there was not. As I had an important business meeting the next day, this was a major drawback for me.
Overall: Overall the stay at the hotel was great. The food and the service in the hotel restaurant was excellent. As long as I didn't need to iron anything I would definitely stay at this hotel again. For travelers unfamiliar with the area this is a surprisingly easy to find hotel in a very nice little village. Lovely surroundings, extra helpful staff in spite of language differences, excellent food and wine, restful, quiet, just right.

Location and grounds.
Overall: Whilst the hotel was in an excellent location and well appointed, the presentation of the food lacked finesse. The main course was particularly disappointing-duck with a sauce and root vegetables (plated a la transport cafe). If a little more care had been taken in the presentation of the food, then the overall impression of the hotel would have been considerably higher. By comparison with other set menus (in the order of 30 Euros) it was not value for money. (97003033)
We have stayed here on five other occasions.
Overall: We knew what we were getting. It is a quirky French experience with no frills. (99090044)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
