The owner's wife was welcoming at breakfast and the breakfast being freshly cooked using local produce is very good.
The welcome I received was cursory. Certainly no welcome drinks - I don't know what others on the site were talking about. Also beware that although the premises are relatively nice, there are lots of rules - including that you cannot bring take away food onto the premises

An extremely high standard of cleanliness; very high quality breakfasts; location; efficiency and friendliness of proprietors and staff; absence of small children and pets.
Rather cramped size of room; poor quality of shower system, making it impossible to control water temperature.
Overall: V little to add to above comments. I would quite strongly recommend the Willowsmere to anybody looking for a southern/centrally positioned base from which to explore the Lake District, especially since - in addition to the merits of the Willowsmere itself - Windermere seems a more pleasant location than Bowness or Ambleside. On the other hand, Keswick is currently much teh best place in Cumbria to look for a meal in teh evening (in my experience). (107184473)

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
