Excellent 'meet and greet'. Very good concierges who dealt efficiently with parking and baggage. Staff in The Terrace were extremely smartly dressed, helpful and quietly efficient - good explanation of how breakfast 'worked'. A wonderful birthday celebration in Santini.

Overall: We were made to feel very welcome and at ease - not always the case in 'top' hotels - and very much enjoyed our stay.  (107440157)

It was to attend the Anthony Nolan Ball at the hotel, which was a very well organised event and handled with good care and attention, for the food and general ambience and running of the event

I found some of the waiting staff to be slow and the fact that some had difficulty being understood by heavy Glaswegian and Edinburgh Accents was not helped, maybe but overall was sufficient. The one thing that I thought was bad was the insistance of a member of staff to constantly check (on repeated occasions) to see if we were residents when using the residents bar at the end of the event, which became quite tedious, to the point we endeded up returning to our room - If an event of this nature is held in the hotel (especially for a Charity) you would expect that the preferental rates would be better/lower - as I booked this on Active as it was cheaper than the stated Event Rate

Overall: It was generally very good, and I only chose the Sheraton as the event was held there, but I do think that for the cost aspect in the future I would stay at a more luxurious hotel and travel down to the event if held there in the future, and I mean by luxurious, that the rooms are more modern and in keeping with what I would expect from a hotel, for instance Le Monde, Ricks, Glasshouse etc.. as I felt the rooms were a bit old fashioned for our personal taste  (97544200)

Hoptel was easy to get to although it did not warn us about the roadworks on the way which had blocked off some roads. Based central so plenty to do around & about. Room & bed was nice & clean. Indoor pool was perfect size & temperature. Staff were excellent & very helpful & polite.

i thought the room was quite small & basic looking so was the bathroom .. not very 5* looking!!! But the thing that really annoyed me was the lack of information!! I had booked the overnight stay as a surpise Fathers day present so he could relax get pampered & spend time with his 2 year old daughter too. When we went to use the spa the next morning we were then told that the spa had restricted hours for children which were 8.30am-9.30am & 3pm-5pm. Whilst we were due to check out at 12 it was a pointless staty for us as i didnt book just a bed for the night!! However when io had a word woth the manager .. she extended our stay till later taht evening so we could use the facilities.

Overall: A bit pricey - thought we would at least get free parking & complimentary access to the spa being a guest!!!  (97925741)

Good location, Very friendly staff, Great food and wonderful Bar !!!

The bathroom in our room was poorly lit with inadequate ventilation.

Overall: Our overall stay was pleasant, but the bathroom was dated, poorly ventilated, with a shabby shower curtain and water marks in the sink.  (99468780)

The roof-top spa was absolutely breathtaking.

The only very minor complain that I had was that use of the spa was an additional cost when a guest at the hotel.

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
