Although cooked breakfast was adequate it was not too plentiful

The toilet flush hardly worked

Everything was good. Booking online was easy, the hotel and staff made our stay very memorable

Overall: A wonderful hotel with great staff and of course Southwold is always a pleasure to be in. I am sure many people have visited Southwold and said we will Have to stay at the Swan Hotel one day. Well go on you will not regret it!  (107368668)

3.3 / 5 3.3 / 5 Shellrryl [MARKET HARBOROUGH, GB] on 18/03/2009 (Mature couple)

good location in a great town , has a history , interesting public rooms , some long serving staff still giving good service , good for a coffee, good breakfast and service , parking ok ,

noisy and creaking room , standard of food in resturant dropped since last visit , some younger staff not so interested in customer , showing its age

Overall: ideal for a seaside break in southwold close to ammenities , a well loved traditional hotel , too much noise tv/cupboard rattling/creaking floors between rooms for restful long stays. would eat out next next time.  (107485700)

Helpful staff

The room had a generator noise going all night. It kept me awake all night and was not the peaceful break I had intended. The decor needed an overhaul it was very tired and used looking.

Overall: Disapponting  (107368462)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
