beautifully situated,lovely building with many period features retained.
Locally produced,delicious real ales. Friendly and efficient staff. Pleasant informal feel.
Overall: very pleasant, shame i was only there on business, overnight and didn't arrive till 9pm. (107948152)

Staff were very friendly and polite
Menu was limitted (approx six options) and did not change. On one occassion meal was not cooked properly. Use of frozen chips was appalling

Helpful staff - when you could get their attention!
Had to wait for everything from a bottle of wine being brought to us to checking out. Concerns over (lack of) fire escape route / procedure as stayed in the English Eccentric which had only barred windows and a skylight as a means of escape.
Overall: Ok but over priced. (107123386)

Friendly and helpful service; very comfortable, well-presented and individual accomodation; top-notch evening meal; and lovely location.

The hotel was quite quirky which we liked, and which gave it some real character. The location was great, nice and peaceful and only 2 miles from Longleat Safari Park. The bed in the room was really comfortable and the bathroom was large in size. The atmosphere and music in the bar were great.
At times the staff seemed to be quite disorganised, particularly at meal times and check in. There was no shower in our room, just a bath. As the hotel only provided fresh milk we could not have a cup of tea/coffee in the morning in our room before breakfast.
Overall: Overall our stay was enjoyable, however this hotel would only need to make some minor changes in order for it to be a fantastic place to stay. Overall value for money was perhaps just a bit too expensive for what it was. (99306284)
