booked last minute so was happily suprised with the jacuzzi bath and sea view which I wasn't expecting. Nice clean room and bathroom, staff, facilities, location, breakfast was excellent.

Bar food was very good. Breakfast might have been good but choice was poor by the time we arrived half an hour before closing time.

Extremely noisy room from creaky floors upstairs and from lift next door. Television only had limited channel choice

Overall: Would not book this hotel again because of very unpleasant noise which disturbed our sleep.  (108854999)

Rooms of good quality, comfortable and airy & very clean. Food in bar & restraunt & at breakfast very good

Very small thing, but felt some staff panicked if had too many guests to deal with for meals, when it all worked out well in the end. However they did give impression of panic to customers. For anyone not wanting a full Scottish breakfast, there was not much alternative.

Overall: All in all it was a very pleasant experience.  (108361670)

Very pleasant staff and excellent views.Breakfasts excellent, food generally of a good standard. Our superior room had a wonderful view of the bay and there was always very hot water on tap.

Parking was sometimes a problem in the late afternoon, not pleasant having to park some distance away from hotel when it is raining.

good location, friendly staff

expensive for the room (£95). staff were friendly but it didn't seem to be run well. It took 20 minutes to get tea brought to the table and it was not busy.

Overall: basic rooms with need of updating. public areas were of poor standard and very dated. clean rooms though. expensive for the standard that we stayed in.  (108991698)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
