Overall: Arrived on Saturday at 2.45pm, a little later than anticipated but as it's such a large guesthouse offering service at any time, shouldn't have been a problem. We were waiting 10 minutes on the doorstep until somebody answered the door. Then we were shown to our room but was not told breakfast times. Asked for an iron and ironing board and was told by the staff member we could have one if she could find the boss. Thankfully an iron was delivered as we were going straight out to an afternoon function. The following morning we realised by looking on the laminated sheet on the dressing table that we were a little late for breakfast (15 mins) but hoped to get a pot of tea, so we went into the dining room, where another table was still being served toast and tea as we sat down. We said hello to the waitress and then we were completely blanked by her. I had some orange juice and my partner had a bowl of cereal which was on the side but had to get some milk from another used table. Whilst I appreciate that we were late, the lack of any acknowledgement from the staff was unacceptable. We could have been offered a cup of tea, seeing as the other table was still eating, but were ignored. I stay in hotels every week with my job and have never come across such bad customer service. The check out time was 10.30 and at 10.00 am, a member of staff was hammering on the bedroom door asking if we were leaving that day - rude. I'd booked for one night and they had no reason to think otherwise. If we had been disruptive guests I could have understood to an extent the treatment we were given but we weren't. We left at 10.15 am and could not wait to leave. (108638950)

We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience. How do I add a rating?Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question. How do you manage to collect so many ratings?48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
