Staff friendly and helpful, beautiful setting, wonderful ambience, we even had a piper to listen to whilst having afternoon coffee in the garden. Super gardens to sit in, a cricket match being played on the nearby pitch and cows in the field. A bucolic dream.
The room in annexe that we were allocated, and the annexe itself, badly need upgrading, peeling paint and windows, bathroom dated, exposed pipes. Food that night at dinner not terribly good, starter(tomato tatin)pastry raw, portions very small, fish dish overcooked and dry. It was my husband's 65th birthday treat and it did take the shine off the evening.
Overall: Whilst not happy with evening meal the fresh fruit for breakfast was lovely and again the staff so pleasant and helpful that we would come again, particularly if some money was spent on room upgrades. The whole area is so pretty we were bowled over. The second night we ate at a local pub and whilst the portions there were way over the top the food itself was well cooked and tasty which shows that it can be done. The price was also half of that at Rothley Court, which at nearly £70 could and should have been better. (107496942)
