The public rooms were spacious and comfortable. The arrangement of the tables in the dining room was good. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and there was a good choice of food on the menu.

We found the fire doors a little tiresome but they are necessary. The after dinner coffee cups were rather small but we were offered a refill.

Overall: Our stay was very pleasant and relaxing especially for me as my husband has Alzhiemer's Disase. We particularly enjoyed the gardens round the hotel and the quiet atmosphere.  (108507471)

Wonderful location and very high quality furnishings, facilities and food! Have been visiting Sidmouth for some time but first time in this hotel which is a wonderful find.

Overall: A very relaxing stay- couln't fault it at all. The sauna and spa area was very welcome after a chilly dip in the sea and there is also a very nice outdoor swimming pool.  (108849896)

The facilities and quality of service from the staff was impeccable and please our appreciation to all concerned. The activities were varied and well suited to my daughter and granddaughter aged 11. Thank you.

Only criticism is the small size of the "double" bed which it was not. Room 102.

Overall: The hotel suited us very well and we would recommend the hotel to others, indeed we already have!  (108476997)

Quality of the decoration, position of hotel to town was very good.

We were unable to book a table in the hotel for an evening meal and were not told until we asked about booking a table. Seemed unconcerned about this and were not pro-active in finding us an appropriate alternative. We had to find another place to eat and this was difficult especially on a Saturday night as most placed were already booked. The hotel only had one small lift which we needed to use as we were travelling with someone who was unable to make the stairs. The beds were particularly small, they must have just been a double. There needs to be something on the booking details regarding wearing and jacket and tie for dinner.

Overall: The location of this hotel was good, but attitude of reception staff was not proactive with dealing with our needs. We understand they take a lot of coach parties and we didn't feel that the independant traveller was a priority. This hotel would ideally suit the muture traveller.  (107307850)
