the club and pub are both good and the town is great

hotel is a bit dated, and probably should reflect that more in the price

Overall: the club downstairs is good fun and Bownessonwindermere is an excellent little place to get away from it all for a night or two. we've stayed at the stag before and its ideal for what we are after which is a base for the night out. it's a bit on the pricey side for what it is, a slightly date hotel, but that's the lakes for you. no complaints though we'll be going there again.  (108582564)

Location, crisp bed linen.

Entrance was where smokers sat so first impression was not good and the toilet in our room did not flush properly.

The bedding was clean and the food was average.

The hotel is in bad need of a good overhaul. The carpets and decoration left a lot to be desired. The lock on our bedroom door was jammed and they just told us to wiggle the key. We knew there was live music and this went on till after twelve, what we didnt know there was a club underneath. The bathroom didnt really inspire us either. Breakfast was average and not quite what was expected.

Overall: Wouldnt stay here again and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We were booked again on Friady 19th June to collect my parents from the blind hotel on saturday but have cancelled and will not be returning. Staff were very polite.  (107458109)

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
