Friendly staff, busy pub, good food and beer.

very small room, tiny, smelly bathroom! poor service at breakfast, no one straightened our rooms during the day. Very noisey until late which may worry some people.

Overall: The accommodation is poor value for money and we were disappointed, however had we only been a visitor to the pub for a meal and a drink we would have been very happy.  (107701225)

Evening meal was very good. So was breakfast

Thought £110.00 for one night was expensive as a week earlier we had stayed at a similar b&b for one night for £55.00. Milk was 'off' in our room and we had lipstick on one glass at breakfast

Overall: It suited us for one night as we were going to Newmarket races. Might stay again if wasn't quite so dear  (107930980)

The Wheatsheaf is not a hotel, it is a quiet village pub offering accommodation. Food in the pub was very good and reasonably priced.

I was charged £95 for 1 night at the Wheatsheaf and believe that other guests were only paying £45 per night. I firmly believe that for such pib accommodation, £45 would be the norm

Overall: Comfortable enough but certainly would not merit a return visit  (107460212)

Staff very friendly, willing to help, accomodate additional requests. Evening meal was delicious.

Room and bathroom disappointing. Freezing when we arrived although heating was turned on immediately, obviously took a while to warm up. Bathroom clean but not great standard of fittings etc.

Overall: The friendliness of the staff more than compensated for the standard of the accomodation. The evening meal was delicious, especially puddings.  (107540799)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
