Food was very good and staff were very helpful
The bed was atrocious, so hard and the spring were showing through, so much so that we had to lie on top of the duvets and use the throws as blankets.
Overall: Ww were booked in for three nights but the beds were so uncomfortable that even though we had to pay for the third night we decided to go home after two nights as we had had very little sleep. (107860660)
Very helpful and friendly staff. Meals were good and very popular as the place was heaving in a nice way. Good beers and great parking. Plenty to see round about, so a good base.
wasps outside, not the hotels fault
Overall: Comfortable hotel with good food and beers. I regret that I did not have a sufficient time to work through the Malt Whiskey listing (107304882)
Welcoming staff, good food especially the first evening.
On our second evening the meal and service was not of such a good quality of the first evening.
Overall: overall a very good experience (108734374)
Friendly, helpful staff. They even tried to contact us to inform us of work happening outside the hotel.
My wife was ill with a stomach bug whih affected our stay. Unfortunately we were left a message about the work outside the hotel when we were already away on an extended break so were unaware. Earlier notification if and where possible would help in future.
Overall: A pleasant and relaxing stay in a beautiful village, marred slightly by the extensive roadworks and illness. Staff were first class. (107365142)
Excellent peaceful location in an idyllic village
On arrival at hotel the hotel were unaware of my booking via yourselves
Overall: Very good (107497367)
The staff were fantastic, so friendly without being intrusive. The room was charming and there was a pleasant garden to sit in. The food was also excellent with a good choice and well-cooked.
The stairs were a bit tricky for a disabled person, but with such an old building this is inevitable.
Overall: This was one of the best hotel experiences we have had for a long time (3 nights) We were sad to leave. There is a lovely homely but efficient feeling to the hotel. (107810010)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
