The room that I had was well appointed and spacious with a wonderful view out onto the lake. Extra value would have been the ability to enter the room from the walkway. But overall an excellent room

When I arrived on the Sunday evening, the breakfast tray from the previous occupant was still out side my door. On the two occasions that I had room service breakfast, my tray was still in my room when I returned from work in the evening and on both occasions it was an hour before it was removed. I have no problem with putting the tray outsaide my room but if it is not taken away it just shows a lack of care and attention. The other point I have on cleanliness is that a waiter came rushing out of the resytaurant and plunged a bottle of wine into the drinks ice saying that has to be ready in ten minutes or we will have to give it away. When I asked the bar man if that was the ice that was going into drinks he said yes. I queried tha advisability of this and he said its only a bottle of wine. A bottle of wine maybe probably in dust and handled which will transfer onto the ice and then into a customers drink. What makes this worse is that there is a large ice tray specifically for that purpose on the counter. Also the main restaurant was limited for the class of hotel with a better choice menu available in the lounge. There is a "gastro" pub on site - gastro food - no just the sort of food available in any reasonable pub.

Overall: Overall an excellent hotel but more attention to cleanliness and general tidiness would enhance the experience. This is not to say that the hotel was generally unclean or untidy because it was'nt but the litle things if unchecked so mount up. I hope that these commentes are constructive in heling you to make improvements.  (108658787)

Pleasant location and front of house staff well trained.

Very overpriced (especially for size of room, menu, quality of food and very small 'spa'. Looks much better on the web than in reality. 'Spa' has small pool, one sauna and one steam room (an 1 1/2 is about as long as you can stay unless you choose a treatment). Breakfast inedible & expensive at £15.95 a head with grey scrambled egg that looked like it had been there overnight, unappealing mushrooms but plenty of greasy pork. Staff were rushed off their feet with only 2 covering the bar/dinner lounge with a full hotel and wedding reception(we ordered at 8.50 and our meal arrived between 9.20 & 10:10 by which time we had had to return to our room as we ran out of babysitter time).

Overall: Overall very dissapointing; most definitely did not meet our expectations.  (107829470)

Everything concerning the appearance and running of the hotel was first class.

The food especially dinner on both evenings left a lot to be desired. Fresh fruit salad consisted of; three types of melon, a small piece of pink grapefruit and a small scoop of icecream. Sunday evening "Braised shoulder of lamb" was possibly the worst meal I have ever been served. The lamb contained about a dessert spoon of meat and the rest was fat, one small potato palento and about a tablespoon of cabbage. For dessert my husband ordered cheese and biscuits, hoping that would cure his hunger, and then we found that there was a supplement charge of £4.95 for this item. The meals were small and inadequate. At no time where we offered extra vegetables etc. A complaint was made to the server, but nothing was done about this. Very disappointing.

Overall: An enjoyable weekend in an idyllic setting was ruined by the food.  (107362795)

The hotel was very clean, modern and had every facility needed. The hotel staff were excellent and the quality of food was very good.

Overall: Our stay at this hotel was probably the best we have ever had. I cannot think of one single thing that could be faulted and I would recommend to anyone.  (107433802)

A supplement is required for a room with a lake view.

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
