Room was clean and warm. Bed was comfortable.

Manager was unable to find my booking - and said I was lucky they had a room available anyway! I was told to park on the road as the hotel car park was full. if i blocked anyone in - instead of asking me to lmove the car the manager said that other customers would be "furious". I parked my car outside. The next morning I was handed a prking ticket. the manager refused to either come down and see me in the morning ir make adequate recompense for his lack of care. I have discussed this matter with the local police and it will be taken further. not impressed.

Overall: Room was fine. Quiet and clean. Bathroom decor was surprising! Breakfast was ok but one staff member to cover breakfast and reception was overwhelmed.  (108431616)

Price, very good Local resturants are very local and quite adequate

Car park - badly undersized. Internet - wifoi problems Room - a bit basic, but that was fine. Noisy - which was bad, especially as other rooms available given only 10 guests staying

Overall: They need to think a bit harder about giving a quiet room if there is availability  (108457825)

Small "0lde world" hotel with lots of character. Lounge & Restaurant have nice "old world" feeling about them and are clean and nicely appointed. Reception staff very welcoming and friendly. Good value menu for lunch & dinner

Beds need to be replaced !! Some of the beds are old and lumpy and not very comfortable. one of our party had to have a room change which improved the situation considerably.

Overall: Would stay again but would check out the bed before commiting to a particular room. Very good central location for most activities in Burslem. The George is an old hotel but has great potential to become a great hotel again as it obviously was in a previous life. It still has some of its former character unlike many of the "characterless" modern hotels. The Swan Square is a nice part of town.  (107847673)

Not very clean, no 'hot' water, no mains drainage in our room, 'hot' food was cold,

Overall: Hotel needs updating, desperately requires cleaning, to this extent our 4 night stay became 3 nights as we checked out a day early.  (108155149)

Staff were all very helpful and friendly

Room acceptable but could have been better. Noisy toilet system. Breakfast was a farce on the second day. They were short staffed. We waited half an hour for our breakfast, and the order was wrong! Others got their breakfast before us, when we ordered before them! A shambles!!

Overall: Satisfactory, but in hindsight I should have booked the travelodge!!  (107937330)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
