Overall: A very pleasant hotel, with very friendly staff. Room very clean and well maintained, central heating wsa on in our room when we arrived. (107598525)

Beautiful old character building .
No atmosphere probably due to takeover and lack of other guests . Grounds untidy . Unhappy with lack of privacy - pathway under our window .
Overall: In it's present condition we would be unlikely to stay again , a lot needs to be done to brighten up the rooms . Maybe we were unfortunate in that we chose the wrong time to visit ie.takeover.In fairness the owner did say that he was in the progress of altering many things . (97172801)
Peaceful area. Large room.
Reception not covered. Lighting in the room was not fully operational. Large cobwebs and spiders in the wardrobes. Extractor fan in the internal bathroom not working. Broken toilet seat. No light in shaving mirror. On return on the first full day room not made up. We were moved to another room which some of the facilities not in working order which obliged the hotel to clean our original room for us to move back into. After we moved back we found that the bath and wash basin had not been cleaned. On our return from a day out on our final day's stay we found that damp and dirty towels were left folded on the beds.
Overall: Due to the lack of staff numbers (1 member of staff had to wait on the bar, attend reception and make breakfasts) service was not what should be expected in a hotel. The working order of facilities seemed never to have been checked on a regular basis. The standard of cleanliness left a lot to be desired. In total extremely poor accommodation. The manager was never available to register our complaint and to ask for a refund, consequently a letter has been sent. (97499823)
