public areas of hotel were nice.

we felt we our room was like a very poor bedsit but 4 star price. The room was such a shock that if we hadn''t been with our young son, and it was late, we would have left. We have never had such a poor room.

Overall: extremely disappointing.  (107854626)

Character building. Excellent staff and quality dining.

Bathroom was a bit sparse for a 4 star rating. Mixer taps for the shower did not work particularly well; it was either hot or cold. Water pressure for shower was weak.

Overall: Overall satisfied but room amenities should be improved to warrant 4 star rating.  (107774292)

A very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in very tasteful surroundings.A lovely old house with attractive gardens (Still being worked on one side). The room with kingsize bed was very comfortable and the breakfast(My choice of scrambled egg and Sausage) was freshly cooked and delicious. I was sorry we could not have dined there the previous evening .I also appreciated the Fridge in the room which was well stocked.

Overall: It was quite expensive at £100 per night but the quality and feel of the place was definitely worth it and I would not hesitate in recommending it to others.  (107130734)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
