Hotel was clean and the room was adequate for our needs.

The facilities in the room were good, however the milk was off even though dated for dec 09/jan 2010. We informed the staff and were given fresh satchets which when we came to use we found them to be the same. Again we informed the staff on the desk but they shrugged it off and just said Sorry. At £90 a night is it too much to expect fresh milk?

Overall: Overall it was pleasant the room was as i said adequate for our needs.  (108359421)

The executive room was one of the most thoughtfully laid out I have come across.

Overall: Quiet comfortable hotel. Cannot comment on food because we ate out.  (108933813)

staff on the desk were excellent and sorted out our requests efficiently

some quests were noisy on the landing during the late evening. some dining room staff were not always as efficient as others.

Overall: Our stay with you was very enjoyable, as we are 2 old people and comfortable rooms and good food are all we need.  (108629664)

Central location; furnishing and facilities of the bedroom. Free parking directly under the hotel.

Our front facing room overlooking the promenade is at the back of the hotel as far as the sea is concerned. We overlooked the street called the promenade which is well back from the sae front. When we queried this, it is evidently a misconception everyone has if they don't know Southport - delivered as if it was our fault for not knowing this! She went on to say she would have moved us, honestly, if she could but with the weekend coming up they were choc-a-block full. Quite clever considering she never asked which room we were in, how long we were staying for - and whether we actually wanted to move! We were there just for the Thursday night and the garage was at least half empty so I don't think they were that full anyway. If you want a room that does have a sea facing view you need to request a marine lake view room. Lift service was slow and indeed one of the two was out of action when we checked out so we used the stairs. No control apparently on who uses the hotel garage - we saw a family using it to park for free and have a day on the beach. There is no barrier or ticket required to gain access. We did not eat or have adrink in the hotel - the bar and restaurant all appeared to be one - but the menu did not look particularly inspiring. And to ask £10 each for breakfast, whilst not expensive in itself, added insult to injury when taking value for money into account - £120 is rather expesnive for overnight in Southport.

Overall: Overall disappointed with quality of staff at reception and their standard monotone replies. The point about what is "front facing" and the "promenade" resulted in such a reply that it is obviously a frequently raised one. If that is so, why do they not make that clear in the hotel description? Room furnishings and facilities were excellent - just a shame the rest of it did not match up  (108212775)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
