great neighbourhood off of Wilton Road, 10 minute walk from Victoria Station: great restaurants, pubs, shops

The room was very small and cramped and access to it was through a mess of construction materials and half demolished rooms. They were in the process of renovating and the door to the room had yet to be installed! When it was finally attached, the smell from the glue and caulking lasted all through the night. We had to walk through the extensive construction work to get to our room and as result carpets were very unclean. The owners/family members were doing their own renovations and it showed, newly installed bathroom had broken floor tiles, leaky hose attached to wall at side of toilet (used to clean???)but as a result the floor was always soaking wet.A huge shower enclosure (why so big for such a tiny room?)but no hot water. We had booked a double room with a double bed - the bed was barely larger than a twin bed, pushed up against the wall, so very diffcult for two people to get in and out of!! The bedding was extremely unsavoury, a mattress protector that was much too small and so bunched up under an equally narrow sheet. Mattress certainly was not new nor particularly clean either. Every request was listened to and they tried to solve problems but everything was going to be done "tomorrow"! They certainly were trying to upgrade and improve their hotel but unfortunately at our expense!

Overall: Too greedy by far - trying to run a hotel and do renovations/construction at the same time should not be allowed. There should be some way to state that on the website. We would definitely not have booked there had we known.  (108177474)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
