The hotel is a beautiful old house with a number of really nice features: the staircase, light fittings etc. It is in a really good location for getting around and about.

We booked a twin room and a single room: i think the twin room was fine the issues were mainly with the single room had it's kettle on the floornext to the waste bin, there was no remote for the tv, the toilet seat was broken and loose (when i showed the housekeeper she said yes we know about that! Doh; the toilet had a crack in it; the twin room had free view the single room didn't; non of the furniture in the single room fitted together and looked as if the owners had taken various bits and pieces and put them together; between the bedside drawers, dressing table, the drawaers on the dressing table and the wardrobe not one piece matched another! The housekeeping left a little to be desired -although given that there was only one young woman in the house it probably couldn't be helped and she was very helpful. Finally the continental breakfast hmmm just some of the highlights, sliced bread, processed ham, cheese triangles...

Overall: The hotel served a purpose and with a few simple inexpensive changes it could be really nice and pleasant place to stay.  (107803778)

A clean and nicely presented Guest House and in a good location.

Very noisy, both traffic and grups of people until the early hours.

Overall: Convenient and pleasant place, but hard to sleep with the noise.  (107760387)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
