Location.

We booked two rooms in the hotel, one of which (the attic) was adequate. The second room had not been vacuumed and the shower cubicle was covered in black mould, we requested an alternative room however we were informed that they were fully booked. The bathroom was in a poor state of decoration with missing tiles and a carpet which had certainly seen better days and could do with being replaced with tiles. The bedroom was tired and very dusty (as was the room in the attic). Both beds were poor and needed replacing. The supply of hot water was down to chance. Their was no water at 4pm on the day of checking in and again at 8.30 am the following morning. When queried we were told it was because it was an old building - not really a valid excuse. Breakfast was poor with low quality ingredients being used and poor service. Upon check out the receptionist knew of the issues and reduced the bill slightly, however this didn't make up for the poor stay which blighted what was otherwise a pleasant weekend away.

Overall: Overall a good location but the hotel is let down by poor décor and lack of cleanliness.  (108761908)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
