the room 16 that i stayed in was excelent,

before i booked it stated internet connection in all areas, but this is untrue as internet was not possible in my room or in the carpark, or two other rooms that i tried it in,

Overall: i booked longer but left due to, no internet, also the bath water was very dirty and did'nt look good,  (108335319)

After complaining about small room, we were instantly allocated a bigger room, which was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times although a little pushed. The hotel was beautifully located and a lovely buiding with beautiful gardens. Definitely top marks for location.

On arrival, allocated a tiny room miles from the central point of the hotel. The food was adequate but that is all. The breakfast, especially, could have been better presented. The hotel in general appeared to be understaffed, the bartender was unable to supply me with lemon slices and the restaurant staff did not allow guests to drink the tapwater in the restaurant because it was spring fed, but then charged for bottled water. The food left a lot to be desired. And the room was very cold, even in June with a broken shower hose which completely flooded the bathroom! All in all, some money needs to be spend on this lovely hotel, to bring it up the level it should be given its grandeur.

Overall: Could have been better, but as we only paid £50 per night for the accomodation, I feel that we got what we had paid for. We would return simply because of the location and the actual building.  (107888017)

Friendly and comfortable, good food in the bar.

Would have preferred to pay by credit card as your notification said was possible without extra charge. But this did not appear to be the case.

Overall: An enjoyable stay in delightful grounds and gardens  (107561971)

The staff were friendly and the hotel was in the perfect location for us.

The shower was disgusting, hadn't been properly cleaned for a long time. There was an unpleasant smell around the entrance corridor to our room. We had to wait for ten minutes to check in as the receptionist was not at the desk and the person covering wasn't able to check us in.

Overall: With a little more care and attention to detail this could be a beautiful hotel as its a lovely building and is in a great location. It's not quite there yet.  (107303736)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
