Price; staff friendly

Hotel fittings are dated late 1960's; bed low and foam mattress and bedding very poor; no shower curtain or hook for hand spray; plumbing noisy in the morning time but mosts guests go to bed early.

Overall: Region needs an uplifting policy, as the scenery is outstanding.  (97132983)

close to venue of family wedding

I am sure the hotel was ok in the 70's but it clearly has not changed since rooms old, musty and with stained carpets no cold water in taps. Breakfast rubbish for the price but as we had no choice!! Being charged local taxes was also a shock! Although your price appeared ok when first viewed it was exactly the same as the hotel price and this was at least twice as much as it should have been

Staff helpfulness

Supposed to be 3 star, but really only just 2 star.

Overall: Appearance is of a threadbare 70's hotel in need of investment. English spoken by some staff helpful, but standard of room was not inviting - no soap, no hairdrier, no tea facilities, no TV (extra rental charge) and you had to hold the shower handset with one hand! I was there 4 nights and bed was only made once. Wi-fi only available in the small, public thoroughfare. Food was of pile-high buffet, never mind the quality type. On the plus side, being a 'spa' hotel it attracted older, quiet clientelle, and there was absolute quiet after 10pm. Views are nice from the rooms, and stunning one minute walk to nearby ridge.  (97316946)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
