Hotel Costazzurra, San Leone (Agrigento)

Overall: We stayed in this hotel for 5 days during a 3 weeks' holiday in Sicily in July 2008. We had an exceptional warm welcome to this hotel! We were asked if we wanted to have an bigger room (triple instead of double which we had booked)since we were staying so long and with a bigger balcony to the same price. We agreed to this although this room was not ready. While we were waiting we were offered a free drink (a lovely zibbibo!)and they showed a film about what the area had to offer! We have learnt through several visits to both Sicily and Italy that a "buffet breakfast" not necessariliy means what you expect from a European standard! But the breakfast at this hotel consisted of bread,cheese,ham,egg,yoghurt,juice and fruit and coffee/tea. We also had lunch one day in the hotel restaurant and also dinner one evening. Both very nice food! The people working in the hotel were always smiling and doing everything to make the guests feel satisfied. San Leone itself may not be the nicest place during our 3 weeks' stay in Sicily, but well worth visiting if you want to see Agrigento and the archeological site! Also if you don't like the crowded beaches in San Leone you can find wonderful, more quiet ones along the coast which really are wonderful! We think that you'll find some of the best beaches in Sicily in this area actually. We found this hotel to be much better than a four star hotel we visited further south along the coast actually and would really stay there again if visiting the same area.  (97050957)

The owners and staff could not have done more for us.They went out of their way to accommodate our every need .

Overall: I would have liked better direction to the beach area. I don;t speak Italian and the beach area I should have been directed to is to go right at the end of the hotel's street, Instead we went left and found the part of the beach that had no services and is somewhat rundown. The right side of the boardwalk is nicer and we didn't discover it until we were leaving town. They gave us a map but just pointe3d to the boardwalk--they sould have said to go RIGHT. The experience in the hotel itself was terrific..friendly, accommodating and excellent.  (99037835)
