Helpful staff Central location Nice breakfast / bar area

Tiny room Noisy street Rather expensive

Overall: A hotel of two halves. The public areas were well decorated and welcoming, including a cosy breakfast room and bar area. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. However my room was something of a disappointment. I had requested a single room but I had not expected it to be literally half the size of a double. It was as if someone had taken a double room and sliced it down the middle through the bed, making it exraordinarily narrow. The bathroom, itself perfectly adequate, had been built between the bed and the single window, cutting out the already small amount of light entering the room. However it did not prevent sound entering the room from the minor but surprisingly noisy street below. Perhaps other rooms in this hotel are better, and I realise Rome can be expensive, but at 95 euro /night this was not much of a bargain.  (108359954)

Booked at the last second and took cheapest room, one without shower, but it had its own washroom, and the full shower-room/WC down the hall was large, bright and spotless. Really great location, right near everything, including the Palazzo Barberini at the end of the street, but the street itself is very quiet. The included-in-room-price breakfast looked perfectly fine, but if you prefer to start the day at Caffè Greco it's less than five minutes walk away !

The bed was a little hard, the mattress being a bit on the thin side. It was fine for me, but perhaps someone else might have been less enthusiastic. Granted, I was also in the cheapest room, so...

Overall: Great hotel, wonderful staff, perfect location, very good value for money.  (108957722)

The location is excellent for seeing the main attractions of Rome - we walked to all of the major attractions. The staff on reception were very helpful. Our room (in Domus Julia beside the Hotel Julia) had all the modcons needed and unlike complaints we'd heard about other Rome hotels the bathroom was spotless and spacious.

Not many really, the breakfast wasn't the best but couldn't fault the room, staff or location.

Overall: We stayed in Domus Julia, in the building beside Hotel Julia, which is essentially a floor of an apartment building separated into rooms. Ours was spacious and had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard behind. Would certainly recommend staying here.  (107389612)

Great location. Very helpful staff. The hotel was located in a quiet street.

Small room.

Overall: We had a wonderful time in Rome and we would love to come back. Thank you for a pleasant stay!  (97468700)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
