Accommodation on face value looks attrictive and very rustic.
We were first given a very poor dark attic room which was claustrophobic and requested a change which was carried out. Lighting in the bedroom was appalingly bad...most people like to read on holiday.
Overall: The pool area is very nice with comfortable seating and shade. Unfortunately there was always music playing too loudly in this area. The reception is in a cabin outside of the main building and was often unmanned. Also a member of staff was serving food and drink dressed in swimming trunks which I would think inappropiate. The decor of the room and the personality of the staff, Stefano and the ladies at breakfast who were very nice. Distance from Lucca. Kitchenette and fridge in the room.
The room we had backed onto the road and the hotel did not have the remote feel that we thought it would have from the description on the site. However, the overall location on the edge of Lucca was good. The music at the pool detracted from the feel of the hotel. The size of the shower - v small. Couldn't move in it. Lack of a safe in the room.
Overall: Overall we enjoyed our stay at the villa. However, we were initially disappointed at the location near the main road into Lucca and our room backed onto a road as well. The location was not as remote as we imagined from the description on the net. The pool was nice, but the music, decor of the breakfast room (and plastic cutlery etc) removed the sense of style from the villa. It wasn't really a peaceful place. However, the staff were very nice and accomodating and always gave us very helpful information. We were able to walk into Lucca and our room was nicely decorated. We were slightly concerned at the lack of safe in the room and kept our valuables with us during our stay. (99793509)

An unusual, but fun, room. Rather noisy from the road even with the window closed. Good bathroom and comfortable bed, lovely pool.
Noisy and difficult to walk up stairs with suitcases. The breakfast was the worst we had in Tuscany - awful!
Overall: Difficult to locate, difficult to access rooms with heavy suitcases upstairs. Interesting and unusual rooms, well fitted - Knights helmets as bedside lamps - Awful breakfast - everything pre-packed, even the croissants (with a July sell by date). No restaurant or bar. However the pool was lovely and clean and well looked after. (99626454)
