From here you can explore the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines, Kendal, and the Scottish Borders. Cumbria and the Lake District are often referred to as 'the most beautiful corner of England'. Shap Wells is the ideal place from which to discover this 'beautiful corner'. Some of the country's most spectacular scenery and historic towns and picturesque villages can be found within an hour of the hotel. Shap Wells has extensive lounges with bar facilities, one of which, the Riverside Lounge, overlooks the River Birkbeck and fells.
The hotel has undergone a continuous programme of expansion and refurbishment over the last 40 years.

Our reputation for food is envied by other hotels in the Lake District. We serve fresh, wholesome, well presented menus, specialising in serving large numbers with meals that are enjoyable and are served efficiently, with as little fuss as possible. Our menus are varied and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of our guests. We are quite happy to cater for special diets and always have a selection for vegetarians on our table d'hôte menus.
Situated in a secluded valley high in the Shap Fells, yet less than 5 minutes from Junction 39 of the m6 motorway, Shap Wells is an ideal location for business and pleasure. Neighbouring cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, and Newcastle are all no more than two hours away.
