There are deluxe castle rooms, superior castle rooms and garden rooms, the latter were built in the late 70’s and form the easterly wing of the castle. The hotel has undergone some major refurbishment recently and there are many rooms of individual character. Most rooms overlook the formal walled gardens and some have wonderful views of the Dornoch Firth and the hills beyond. There are two rooms which have views of Dornoch Cathedral.
The double/twin rooms are located on the ground and first floors in the modern Garden Wing of the building. The rooms overlook the attractively laid-out flowers beds and shrubberies. These rooms are comfortably furnished, naturally light and well appointed. Each room has an en suite bathroom with either a bath and shower or a large shower. The rooms either have one double bed or 2 single beds. Dornoch Castle has a growing reputation in Dornoch and further afield, and The Garden Restaurant is now recognised as one of the premier dining venues of the area and has retained Rosette status for the past 3 years. The head chef prides himself in using local Scottish Highland produce and there are always Scottish seafood dishes on the menu, as well as Aberdeen Angus beef, Highland venison and lamb. The à la carte menu is served in the elegant candle-lit Garden Restaurant overlooking the walled gardens, or for a more informal meal, you can enjoy dinner in front of the roaring log fire. Still maintaining its 15th century stone walls and wooden floors, the restaurant has been transformed into a comfortable bar and reception.
