The Lion Hotel is situated in the centre of one of Derbyshire's most historic towns - Belper. The hotel provides an extremely high level of comfort and service.
It was here that Jedediah Strutt established the first cotton mill in 1776 using power from the River Derwent. The hotel's frontage dates from this period and has been totally refurbished. This room has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. This is a more luxurious room but still comfortable and tastefully decorated with modern facilities. Luxury double rooms can be turned into twin bedded rooms. Please contact the hotel at the time of booking if you require this.
Strutts Bistro is open every evening, serving a regularly changing menu, using fresh local produce. A wide selection of meals are available in the bar all day every day. The Lion Hotel offers something for everyone’s taste and caters for any special diets.
Belper is located 15 minutes by road from Derby and 30 minutes from Nottingham. Belper is 15 - 20 minutes from the M1, exit from junction 25, via A52 & A6 or 26, via A610. The hotel is located in the centre of town on the A6 and a few minutes walk from the railway station (change at Derby for Belper trains). Belper may also be reached from the A38 approaching from the south west. Leave the A38 at the A6 junction on the northern outskirts of Derby. Follow the A6 the northwards through Duffield and Millford to reach Belper in 7 miles.
