About Macdonald Houstoun House hotel
An outstanding hotel, steeped in history, perfectly located between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Excellent standard of accommodation, with 2 restaurants, a cosy bar and state of the art leisure complex.
Set within eye-catching private gardens and grounds, it is hard to believe that Edinburgh and Glasgow are within easy reach of Houstoun House Hotel. Nearby are many places rich in history, such as Linlithgow Palace, Hopetoun House and the House of the Binns. The Great Hall, Old Drawing Room and Library now form the hotel's dining room. The opulent oak panelling, family paintings and antiques all add to the restaurant's traditional aura. The establishment has been awarded two aa Rosettes and we are particularly renowned for our prime beef dishes. Informal dining is available in our Steakhouse Bistro, while in our vaulted bar, you can try any of over 100 malt whiskies by a blazing, open fire. Guests receive free access to the hotel's exclusive leisure club. It houses an 18 metre swimming pool, sauna, solarium, steam room and gymnasium.

The Steakhouse is a separate restaurant open for evening meals only, from Tuesday to Sunday, 5pm to 10pm. Directions
By Car: From Edinburgh - Take the City Bypass (A720) and follow M8 signs for Glasgow. - Come off at junction 3 (for Livingston). - Take the last exit (4th) on the roundabout (for Broxburn). - At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit (for Uphall). - At the mini roundabout, turn right. - Before the next roundabout, Houstoun House is on the right-hand side. From Glasgow: - Take the M8 for Livingston and follow the directions outlined above. From the Forth Road Bridge: - Follow road from the bridge to the roundabout. Take the last exit. - Follow the road through Newton until you come to the sign for the M9 and turn left (go under the motorway). - Follow the road over the humpback bridge and 2 sets of traffic lights. - At the T-junction turn right. - Then take the 1st left and follow the road through Ecclesmachan to a T-junction, where you turn right. - Just at the mini-roundabout, Houstoun House Hotel is on the left-hand side.
