The hotel is well situated, neighbouring the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales, the Beamish Open Air Museum and the historic city of Durham.
As well as being very popular with the local business community, the hotel also offers a relaxing place to spend the night for the local traveller or tourist.
There is a public house annexed to the hotel, with a garden, including seating areas where customers can enjoy their food and drink. The public house has a great bar and offers good food, from traditional pub meals to contemporary food.
The hotel has 40 comfortable en suite rooms, all of which are decorated to a high standard. Staff are helpful and friendly, and the hotel combines traditional comfort with modern convenience.

The Sizzling Pub Company public house is located in the front of the hotel and offers a fantastic range of meals at a very reasonable price. Meals are served from 12.00 to 20:30.
It is well situated, being on the Great North Road (a167) at the northern edge of the town. 5 minutes to the centre by car and Darlington Railway Station, 10 minutes by car. Speedy access to the excellent north- east road system and national motorway network.
