The restaurant offers traditional food in a contemporary setting with a relaxed atmosphere and good service. The hotel’s Tudor Bar is great for a more informal meal and offers a more casual menu. The bar offers the hotel’s own Rose and Crown real ale and offers a relaxed atmosphere, with a roaring log fire in the cold winter. Both of the hotel’s dining areas are situated in the older part of the hotel and boast beautiful original features, such as ancient wood beams.
From London: Take junction 28 off the m25 onto the a12 (e). Then take the Colchester Central exit onto the a133. Straight over the next two roundabouts leading onto Cowdray Avenue. At the double roundabout take a right at the first roundabout and then straight across at the second roundabout. The entrance to the hotel is a few hundred metres down on the left. From Ipswich: From a12 take exit for Colchester North onto a1232; follow the Ipswich road for approximately 2 - 3 miles, until you approach a double roundabout. Straight over both roundabouts following the Ipswich road. The entrance to the hotel is a few hundred meters down on the left. By rail: Just a 3/4 hr ride by intercity train from London's Liverpool Street Station. Colchester is well served by two local railway stations: Colchester Town (St. Botolphs) and Colchester North. By air: Stansted International Airport, off the a12, is approximately 40 miles away.
