The Swan Hotel, Alton

The Swan Hotel is a beautifully preserved and presented traditional English hotel, which still retains many of its original features. The popular contemporary restaurant boasts eye-catching modern furniture and a striking mahogany floor. The intimate restaurant has a varied menu of well-cooked dishes and is open for lunch and dinner. It also has a reasonably priced wine list.

The bar and lounge are rich in character, with open fireplaces, filling bar meals and real ales.

Jane Austen’s cottage is nearby, in the Chawton area of Alton. The cottage is where Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice were written. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction and museum dedicated to Jane's life and work.
