Extensively refurbished in November 2008, this attractive hotel has a superb location, overlooking the River Avon and the RSC Theatre; 5 minutes' walk from the town centre.
The restaurant, bar and lobby area were fully refurbished in 2008, along with most bedrooms. The new rooms have 26-inch LCD TVs (with Freeview), minibars, air conditioning, walk-in monsoon showers and free internet access.
There is a well-stocked bar and Le Bistrot Pierre offers delicious French cuisine and superb views of the river.
All guests can get free access to the leisure facilities at the Macdonald Alveston Manor, which is opposite. The facilities include a swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room.
Near the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, the Courtyard Theatre and all of the town's Shakespeare attractions, the Macdonald Swan's Nest was the first building in Stratford to be built in red brick.

Newly refurbished and opened in November 2008, Le Bistrot Pierre boasts wonderful views of the river. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the emphasis on simply prepared regional French cuisine, made with fresh, locally sourced produce. The hotel's bar, the Bear Free House and Kitchen, is open from 12:00 and serves an impressive selection of wines by the glass and draught beers, including 5 guest ales, which are always available. Cuisine is more traditional, but with the same approach regarding quality ingredients and fresh preparation. Room service is available 24 hours a day.
