Centrally located, the Carfax Hotel is an ideal base from which to work or explore one of Europe's oldest and finest cities. The celebrated architect Thomas Baldwin created Great Pulteney Street in 1789, using the famous honey-coloured Bath Stone. Today, the hotel still retains many beautiful original Georgian features, with large rooms with high ceilings and large sliding sash windows.
There are 31 uniquely furnished and individually heated rooms, all of which are en suite with either a bath or shower, or more often both. A continental buffet breakfast and a full traditional cooked English breakfast is included in the price. There is also a computer for public use in the hotel's lounge, which is free of charge.
Parking is available on a limited, first-come, first-served basis.

All of the hotel’s rooms are individually decorated and each room has its own unique charm. There are three distinct bedroom categories: standard, plus and superior. These categories relate to the size and the location of the rooms. The superior and plus rooms tend to be on the first and second floors and are larger with distinctive high Georgian ceilings and enormous sash windows.
Each of these triple rooms has a large double bed and a single bed. These rooms can be used as double, twin or triple rooms.

There is one family suite, consisting of one room with a double bed and one adjoin room with a twin bed. The two rooms are linked by a door and share a private bath, shower and toilet. This suite is designed for family use, so be aware that the rooms are smaller and on the third floor, but the suite may also be used by adults.
The Carfax Hotel currently holds a Mobility Level 2 certificate from VisitBritain. This means that the hotel is defined as “typically suitable for a person with restricted walking ability and for those that may need to use a wheelchair some of the time and can negotiate a maximum of three steps.” This ground-floor room is suitable for wheelchair use on this basis and is fitted with bathroom supports and a walk-in shower.
The hotel's impressive breakfasts have won the coveted Green Award for using fresh local produce. The hotel is committed to using the highest quality ingredients and preparation methods for all meals. Fairtrade products are used wherever possible. Evening meals are served in the dining room on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 18:00 to 19:00, with a table d'hôte menu for guests and non-residents. On Sundays, the hotel serves a traditional roast-beef Sunday lunch at 12:00 and 13:30. Coffee, tea and mints can be served in the dining room or in the comfortable public lounge, at an additional cost. Please be aware that the restaurant is unlicensed and does not accept corkage. The hotel reserves the right to cancel any meal subject to staffing. To avoid disappointment, guests are advised to book in advance of arrival.
By Train/Coach: Bath Spa Railway Station and the main Bus station are about 15-20 minutes' flat walk away from the hotel. The walking route passes the Abbey, the Parade Gardens and Pulteney Bridge. If you have heavy cases there is a busy taxi rank outside the train station.
