In a small, pretty village in the Oxfordshire countryside, just 8 miles (13 km) from Oxford city centre, this former coaching inn offers delicious food, real ales and a charming village atmosphere.
The Bat & Ball Inn has a great bar, with an enormous collection of cricketing memorabilia. With pine tables and flagstone floors, the bar has a cosy and comfortable feel. You can enjoy an excellent selection of hand-pulled ales including LBW, Marston's Pedigree and a weekly changing guest ale.
The restaurant has a great reputation for serving fantastic food, with seasonal menus offering good quality and value for money. The Bat & Ball has appeared in the Good Pub Guide and more recently received an entry in Michelin's Eating Out In Pubs Guide.
Wi-Fi is available in the bar and restaurant.

All rooms at The Bat & Ball Inn are now completely refurbished to a high standard in a sympathetic and contemporary style. Featuring modern en suite bathrooms, comfortable beds, LCD televisions with integrated Freeview channels, and quality solid oak furniture, the rooms now offer good quality, comfort and value-for-money.
We have 5 double rooms all with their own character, just like the famous cricketers after whom they are named. We have 'May', 'Trueman', 'Grace', 'Dexter' and 'Boycott'.
The 'Trueman' room benefits from being on the ground floor so is suitable for the less able!
The family room can be let as a single, double, twin or family room. Children are already included in the room rate, but if you want extra children to stay in the room, please inform the hotel in the ‘comments’ section of your booking.
Room 'May' is on the ground floor so is suitable for the less able! This room is small and therefore offered at a reduced rate.
The restaurant at The Bat and Ball has a charming ambience. Stripped pine tables, exposed stone and brick walls and flagstone floors are finished with candlelight. We have recently been rewarded for our excellent food with an entry in the Micelin 'Eating Out In Pubs' guide - only 500 pubs in the country feature in this wholly impartial guide. Please note: breakfast on the weekends is from 08.30 am.
From m40: Exit motorway at junction 8a (The junction with the services on). Head east towards the a40 and as you reach the apex of the bend, you will see a road off to the right signed Wheatley. Turn down this way and follow the road for approx one mile, past Asda and Wheatley Car Sales. You will come to a pub called The Kings Arms, you need to turn left here (where the road forks). Follow this road for approx one mile until you reach a crossroads. (There is a churchyard opposite on the right at this junction) Turn left down a steep hill. At the bottom of this hill, go across the staggered junction. Proceed up the hill towards Garsington, passing a pub called The Railway on your right and a q8 filling station on your left. After approx one mile, you should see a turning on your left into Cuddesdon, we are in the centre of the village. FROM RING ROAD (A4142): Between Cowley and Headington (closer to Cowley) is Horspath Industrial estate. Turn up towards this estate and keep on the main road into Horspath (approx 1 mile). Continue through the village around nasty bend (you will find the Chequers pub on this bend) and out through village underneath rail bridge. Continue up this road up small hill for approx one mile. At the T-junction, turn left towards Wheatley and then first right into Cuddesdon, we are in the centre of the village. FROM SCIENCE PARK (Littlemore/Sandford Area): Turn left out of Science Park and drive to the main roundabout (approx 1-mile). Turn right onto the Watlington road. After about mile, turn right towards Garsington. At the junction, take the right hand fork and proceed towards Wheatley. After about 1 mile, look for the signpost on your right to Cuddesdon. We are about one mile down here in centre of village. Always look out for road signs as they are old fashioned, small and non-reflective. If you do have difficulty, call us and we will guide you in.
