Situated in the most picturesque street in the market town of Ross-on-Wye, this 14th century inn maintains many of its original features, including oak beams and a large stone fireplace.
A great location for exploring The Wye Valley, Black Mountains, Tintern Abbey and Symonds Yat, the hotel is within a 40 minute drive of Cardiff and Cheltenham. Goodrich Castle, The Forest of Dean and The Welsh Marches are also easily accessible for day trips.
Ross-on-Wye itself is a small market town, nestling alongside the meandering River Wye. Its streets and shops are full of character, where you can browse at your leisure. Market days are on Thursdays and Fridays around and under the 16th century Market House.

The restaurant specialises in delicious home cooked dishes using local seasonal produce and is open throughout the day serving coffees, homemade cakes, lunches, cream teas and dinner. The award-winning chef uses local fresh market produce in the restaurant. The restaurant also has a 60 foot well as its centrepiece. The Kings Bar has a good range of single malts, wines and two local hand pulled real ales. The restaurant is also open to non residents and is extremely popular in the local area. To guarantee a reservation at the restaurant please contact the hotel in advance to make a booking. Bar meals are not served on Friday and Saturday nights.
By Car: M50 motorway: 2 km. Ross has a one way system. The best way to the Kings Head is: - Come off the A40 at Wilton. - Go over Wilton Bridge. - Turn right, heading for Palace Pound and Royal Hotel. - Follow the road to the High Street; the car park entrance is through the archway facing you. By Train: Gloucester or Hereford: 20 km By Bus: The coach/bus station is on Cantilupe Road, which is within walking distance.
